Akron

Anthony Michael Cerniglia, 51, passed away on October 1, 2026, in Akron, Ohio. He was born on April 17, 1975, in Passaic Park, New Jersey, and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1994.

Anthony was a good soul who lived life to the fullest, always on the go and ready to have fun. Humble and generous, he put others before himself and was quick to lend a hand. He had a way of connecting with just about anyone and seemed to know everyone wherever he went.

That love of people carried into the many roles he held throughout his life. While working as a bouncer at the Stone Pony and the Osprey, Anthony met countless people and formed lasting friendships. He also coached Little League baseball and volunteered in a hazmat role with the fire department in Neptune. His work included time at Jersey Medical Center and many years with Geese Police before he moved to Ohio. There, he worked for SCIC, a contractor for the Federal Aviation Administration at the Cleveland air traffic control tower, where he helped prepare training materials and handled other duties.

Creative and artistic, Anthony enjoyed gardening, making things with his hands, and playing paintball. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, but nothing meant more to him than spending time with his children and enjoying life with the people he loved. His kindness, outgoing spirit, and the happiness he shared with others will be deeply missed.

Anthony is survived by his children, Anthony L. Cerniglia, his mother, Nancy L. Ojeda-Alvarez (Angelo Alvarez); his father, Anthony M. Cerniglia; his brother, Eric Kruger (Megan Thomas); his grandparents, José and Delia Ojeda; his aunt and godmother, Kathy (Joe) Schibelli; his uncle and godfather, Victor Cerniglia Sr.; his cousin, Victor Cerniglia Jr.; nephew Matthew Simon and many other family members. He also leaves behind his longtime close friends, Emil Hawkins, Todd Williams, Joseph Milano, and Anthony Devlin.

Service details will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN).
