Bette Ann Jenkins

Bette Ann (Burch) Jenkins passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin “Frank” Jenkins.

Born and raised in Akron, Bette was a lifelong member of High Street Christian Church. She devoted many years to the church’s beloved three-year-old class, where she gave her time, patience, and love so generously.

She graduated from Buchtel High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Akron. She worked for many years at St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing as their nutrition instructor and later at the Akron Health Department.

While she accomplished much in her professional life, her greatest joy and proudest role was her family. She devoted her life to raising her children, caring for her husband, Frank, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a loving, steady presence who never complained and always put the needs of others before her own.

She is survived by her children, Craig (Lesa) Jenkins, Kim (Denny) Browne, and Jennifer (Mike) Saxon; her grandchildren, Justin, Kristopher, and Brandon Cardone, Griffin, Haley, and Alissa Jenkins, Steven (Taylor) and Emily Saxon; her great-grandson, Jacob Saxon; and her sister, Debbie Fahrland. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness, and devotion that will continue through the generations of her family.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to her friend, Kathy, the caregivers at Heritage Crossing, and Care Team Hospice for the loving care and compassion they provided during her final years.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
