Betty Jo Hopkins

Betty Jo (Shuttleworth) Hopkins, 68, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Norton, Ohio. She was born July 14, 1957, to Paul Donley and Frances Jean (Bulick) Shuttleworth. She graduated from Green High School in 1975. Despite a desire to become a professional clown, she graduated her nursing school program as an LPN, and later in life completed an Associates Degree for Auto Mechanics.

She lived an eventful life. Through her nursing career she worked at Aultman Hospital and Akron Children’s Hospital, in addition to several nursing homes and private care nursing. Through her career she made many friends with staff and families of patients. She spent several years in the Civil War reenacting with her husband and children. She also enjoyed traveling, including Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, New York City, and China. She greatly enjoyed watching the Tour de France on tv. She also adored dogs and would have to greet every dog that she encountered.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel; her son, James; and her brother, Bill. She is survived by her siblings, Paul “Sam”, Mary Ann, and Bob; her children and their spouses, Jennifer and Michael Bernard, Jason and Lisa Hopkins, Jean Hopkins, and Joseph and Trishala Hopkins; and multiple nieces and nephews. Betty loved being a grandmother, and she is also survived by her grandchildren, James, Trent, Connor, Katherine, Nikolai, Kelsey, Brian, and Aubrey. She will also be missed by her three granddogs.

Visitation will take place Monday November 10, 2025 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM at Adams Mason Funeral Home 791 East Market Street Akron, OH 44305. Followed by burial at 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery 200 College Street Wadsworth, OH 44281.
