Brenda Easter Mellin

Brenda E. Mellin, 79, of Rootstown, Ohio, formerly of Bealsville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 after a short illness, surrounded by family and friends.

A daughter of the late Clinton and Mable (Graham) Krantz, she was born on June 21, 1946 in Charleston, West Virginia.

An avid quilter, sewer, and gardener, Brenda loved to spend her time tending her garden and mowing the lawn. She worked for Marietta Memorial as a unit secretary for many years followed by driving school bus for Union Local Schools for 18 years.

Along with her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Butch Mellin. She will be forever held in the hearts of her daughter, Joanne (Ed) Schoolcraft, granddaughters, Cloa and Niki, and great grandson, Thomas, all of Marietta, Ohio; brothers, Frank (Linda) Krantz of Gassaway, West Virginia, and William (Donna) Krantz of Spencer, West Virginia; sister and lifelong best friend, Vicky Spriggel of Rootstown; and her beloved Yorkie, “Booger”. Brenda also leaves behind several nieces and nephews to honor her memory. The family would like to thank Brenda's close friends Chuck and Doreen for everything they have done for Brenda. 

In accordance to Brenda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is scheduled for August 9 at 1:00 pm at New Beginning Fellowship Church 4567 State Route 43 Kent, OH 44240, with a luncheon to follow.
