Charles R. Lehman

Charles “Charlie” R. Lehman, 77, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 17, 1948, in Somerset, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Ralph Lehman and Thelma (Mull) Wagner.

Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army as a decorated Vietnam veteran and Army Drill Sergeant — a testament to his bravery, dedication, and love of country. Charlie also worked for the United States Post Office as a mail carrier for 25 years. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his Family and friends.  He treasured time spent around the table sharing meals and stories, laughing with friends, and simply being together. An avid outdoorsman, Charlie found peace and happiness in hunting and fishing, and he never passed up the chance to spend a day on the golf course. Many of his most cherished memories were made outdoors, surrounded by the people he loved. He especially loved mowing the grass on his zero-turn mower.

Above all, Charlie cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of one month shy of 58 years, Linda (Lott) Lehman; his sons, Bob Lehman (Jessica) and Brian Lehman (Dawn); and his cherished grandchildren, Mason, Alec, CJ, Levi, Madison, Makenna, and Marley. He is also survived by his sister, Glenda Shue, and his stepbrother, Dwayne Wagner. Along with many sisters and brother in laws and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Wagner; his father-in-law, Earl Lott; his mother-in-law, Dolores Lott; his brothers, Sonny (Linda) Lehman and Gerald Lehman; his daughter-in-law, Teresa Lehman; and his grandson, Zachary Lehman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10 a.m., with Father Kawalec officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlie’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Afterglow
