Charlotte R. Pickenpaugh, 82, of Akron, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Akron City Hospital.
Born in Akron on August 17, 1943, she was the cherished daughter of the late Willard andGertrude (Carter) Ress.
A dedicated professional with a heart for her community, Charlotte spent over a decade with Akron Child Guidance (1977–1990) before beginning a long and respected career with Debra Booher and Associates, where she served from 1996 until 2025. Her commitment to others extended into her personal life as a faithful member of Cornerstone Church of Akron and a devoted Board Member of the Paige Foundation.
Charlotte lived life with an appreciative eye for nature and a playful spirit. Whether she was birdwatching, biking, hiking, or tending to her garden, she found beauty in the world around her. She was an avid reader and a famous collector of "all things pig." However, her greatest passion was her family. Charlotte was the cornerstone of monthly family gatherings, keeping an open-door policy where anyone in need of a meal or a place to belong was always welcome. In earlier years, she was a fixture in the 4-H and BMX communities, tirelessly supporting her children’s passions.
Family and Legacy
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 51 years, Terry Pickenpaugh; her brother, Robert Ress; and her children: Tammy Pickenpaugh, Michele (Robert) Fickel, Terry Anne Pickenpaugh, Lynn (Neal) Penix, and Thomas (Abby) Boser. Charlotte’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Shannon (Howard) Pfouts, Ren Pickenpaugh, Brittany Malak, Sydney Fickel, Robbie Penix, Lukas Boser, Stephanie (Joe) Jenkins, and Shelby (Shaun) Sterk; as well as seven great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She now joins those who preceded her in death: her parents; her sons, Timothy and Thomas Pickenpaugh; and her beloved grandson, "Little Tommy" Boser.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Adams Mason Funeral Home 791 E. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44305. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Reception to follow services will be announced later.
