In Loving Memory of

Corwin “Cory” Hood

April 12, 1972 – July 21, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Corwin “Cory” Hood, who peacefully departed this life on July 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Though his earthly journey has ended, the love, laughter, and memories he shared with all who knew him will remain forever in our hearts.

Cory was truly one of a kind. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a big heart, a contagious laugh, and a personality that could light up any room. Hardworking and dependable, Cory took pride in working with his hands. He was a talented builder and a true jack of all trades—if he put his mind to something, there was very little he couldn’t do.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Cory loved music, dancing, fishing, drawing, working out, watching old martial arts movies, cooking, and, most of all, he loved to eat. Whether spending time with family, sharing stories, or making people laugh, he made every moment count.

Above all else, Cory loved his family. He believed each of us was special and made sure we knew how much we were loved. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a cherished son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His love was unconditional, and his presence brought comfort, strength, and joy to those around him.

Corwin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Joe Burks and Horace Young; his grandmother, Viola (McKinley) Sanders; and his siblings, Carl Young II and Karlissa Young.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his beloved wife, Sabrina Hood; his children, Derek (Shelby), Corwin Jr. (Tiffany), Jeffrey(Ava), Isaiah, and Je’von; his father, Carl Young Sr.; his mother, Jackie Hood-Tatum; his grandmother, Geraldine Chatman; his brothers, Kenneth “Pug” Hood and Herbert (Malaika) Young; his sister, Eriona Young; his cherished grandchildren; Liam ,Lyric, Bralynn, Corwin III, Tamarion, Arionna, Elijah , Brayden,Brendyn, Mar’lay, Kamari, Jordyn, Ace Amir, Alexis,Jayden,Aliyah a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Cory’s love, strength, kindness, and legacy will live on through everyone who was blessed to know him. He fought with courage, loved without limits, and leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will never fade.  Special Thanks, Tammy Kingsley (Mike) & Aunt Yvette McIntyre, Tyrone Young, Michael Pancetta and many others.
