Danny M. Bennett

Danny M. Bennett, 61, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on April 25, 2026. Born on January 26, 1965, in Massillon, Ohio, Danny was the son of the late Philip M. Bennett and Patsy S. Bennett Pildner (née Ball). He was also preceded in death by his sister, Tammy Bennett Sherck.

A 1983 graduate of Perry High School, Danny spent many years working at Doctor's Hospital in Massillon, where he earned the respect and admiration of both patients and colleagues. Following the hospital's closure, he pursued various roles, including managing pet stores and working in restaurants. His adaptability and dedication were evident throughout his career.

Danny shared a loving life with his partner of many years, Michael Barefield of Akron, Ohio. He is also remembered by numerous cousins; two special cousins, Joan Bennett of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Sue Cline of Navarre, Ohio; his nephew Tyler Sherck of Auburn, Indiana; and his brother-in-law Dean Sherck of Waterloo, Indiana, along with Dean’s wife Debbie.

An avid fishkeeper with a talent for creating stunning aquariums, Danny found joy in nurturing life and beauty. He was a passionate comic book enthusiast who rarely missed a Comic-Con event. His involvement with the Iron Eagles and Rangers clubs brought him camaraderie and cherished friendships. Danny was deeply committed to improving his community and adored his little Yorkie Lucy as well as the many pets he cared for over the years.

Dan’s fun-loving spirit and wholehearted love left an indelible mark on those who knew him. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal services. A Celebration of Life will be announced on Facebook at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Summa Akron City Hospital, Summar Rehab Hosptial, and AlterCare of Hartville for their loving care of Danny over the past nearly two years. In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with Danny's final arrangements can be made via Venmo (@mikebarefield), CashApp (@$CecilBarefield), or Chime ($M-Barefield).
