Danny Lee Sites

Danny Lee Sites, age 76, died of a heart attack on November 3, 2025 on his property in Ravenna, Ohio.

Danny was born in Portland, Indiana on September 2, 1949. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Sites, and his sister, Mary Jones. He is survived by his mother, Goldie Sites; sister, Katie Geldhof; nephew Dante (Sarah) Geldhof; niece Heather (Dan) Geldon; nephew Paul (Kate) Geldhof; niece Jenny Dillon; and nephew Martin Geldhof, as well as his many adoring great nieces and nephews: Indiana and Tigerlily Geldhof; Ryan, Gabriella, and Sophie Dillon; and Zoe and Susanna Geldon. Danny left behind great friends as well, including his lifelong best friend, Stanford Badley.

Danny graduated from Kent State University with a Masters Degree in Sociology. He continued his personal education throughout his entire life, constantly reading books and taking notes in the margins. During the sixties and seventies, Danny was active in the Civil Rights Movement and continued to be politically engaged throughout his life. When his father was alive, Danny spent much time with him debating ideas, writing and editing; they co-authored a book they published in 2010 entitled “Truth for Human Existence and Happiness.”

In addition to reading and writing, Danny was a talented artist; his home is full of sculptures and paintings, many of which illustrate a social or political idea. Danny spent much of his working life as a carpenter, designing and building rooms and additions in various houses, including his own. Regardless of the size or creativity of the project, Danny’s work was always both beautiful and precise.

Danny spent much of his adult life helping to take care of his parents and their property in Ravenna. After his father passed away in 2010, he became the primary and devoted caretaker for his mother. He was also a significant presence in the lives of his nieces and nephews. He was involved in their day-to-day lives as they grew up and was there for all of the big moments and many of the small ones - everything from ice cream excursions to driving lessons. As a great-uncle, he visited his local great nieces and nephews weekly. All of his great nieces and nephews loved Uncle Danny for his fun energy, his sense of humor, and his excellent chocolate chip cookies.

Danny’s family would like to thank and acknowledge Tammy Turner, who alongside Danny, has helped care for his mother the past nine years. Her dedication and consistency has meant a great deal to Danny and his family.
