Darrell McGraw

April 8, 1949 — June 8, 2026

Darrell McGraw, lovingly known as "Junior," went home with Jesus on June 8, 2026, to be healed and receive his wings. He passed away peacefully at home under hospice care, surrounded by his loving family, after a six-month battle with lung illness.

A lifetime smoker, Darrell made the difficult decision to quit after one of his lungs collapsed. He faced his illness with strength, courage, and faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell McGraw and Zada Nichols; his wife, Carolyn Sue; his daughters, Sandy and Tammy; his son, Darrell "Jr."; his granddaughter, Carolyn Brittany Marie; his brothers, Ralph and Fuzzy; his sisters, Carol and Joyce; and many other family members and friends.

He is survived by his sisters, June ("Renee") and Tonya ("Tammy Jean"); his brother, Everett; his daughters, Missy (Rick) Bower and Renee; his bonus daughter, Sherri; his son-in-law, Mike Claar; his nephew, Nick; and his nieces, Leslie, Jessica, Tiffany, and Amanda.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Bobbie Sue, Kevin, Michael, and DJ (Katie) Claar; Hallie, Melissa, and Raymond (Saundra) Scott; Samantha (Cody) and Ricky (Nickie) Bower; Stephanie (Mason); Haley Santy (Scott); Greyson and Bella Zornes; MatMat; and bonus granddaughter Haley Goins.

His great-grandchildren include Zada, Brendon, Brianna, Carolyn, Mariah, Morgan, Maci, Miles, Daniel, Sandra, Ariel, Sharon, Cassidy, Stacie, Delila, Cassidy, DJ, Bradlee, Emily, Logan, Owen, Raegan, Ricky, Myles, Maya, Shane, and Gaven. He also leaves behind lifelong family friends Bob Antonucci and Kenny Barlow.

Darrell was a wonderful and dedicated father who loved his family and friends deeply. He had a heart full of love for everyone in his life. His daughters adored him and will feel his absence every day, but their faith gives them comfort knowing they will one day be reunited with him and their entire family in Heaven.

He was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. He loved fishing, listening to music, watching television, telling jokes, watching sports, playing bingo, visiting casinos, and trying his luck with the lottery. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Although he lived on a fixed income, Darrell had a generous heart and was proud to support several charities throughout his life. He believed in helping others whenever he could.

After 18 years apart, Darrell is now reunited with his beloved wife, Carolyn Sue. While his family grieves his loss, they find peace in knowing he is no longer suffering and is celebrating in Heaven with those who had gone before him.

Darrell chose to be cremated, and his remains will be buried with his wife.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Canton Road, followed by a celebration of life at Kim Tam Park, which will include family food and swimming. The date will be announced in the near future.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory, laughter, and love will live on forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
