Donald K. Bartsch, 94, of Canton, Ohio died peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center in Canton. Born May 11, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late William and Agnes Bartsch. His mother died five days after his birth and he was raised by his grandmother and aunts over the years. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 through 1953 in the Army Corps of Engineers and was involved in the atmospheric nuclear tests carried out in the Nevada Proving Grounds (Desert Rock Exercises). He started working at the Warner & Swasey Company in 1953 retiring in 1981. He then worked for Simon Duplex, Inc. from 1981 until his final retirement in 1994 as Interim President.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Theresa of Canton; his four children, Donna (Sam) Willis of Strasburg, Jeff (Pat) Bartsch of Pickerington, Deb (Joe) Parolini of Bonita Springs, Florida and Cindy (Gregg) Somers of Pataskala; 12 grandchildren, Abby (Luke) Martin, Tana (Jason) Grewell, Matthew (Kelly) Bartsch, Lauren (Rocco) Latino, Christopher (Maddie) Bartsch, Alex (Abby) Bartsch, Tony Parolini, Andy (Jackie) Parolini, Jeremy (Emily) Parolini, Eric (Amanda) Rusk, Jason (Lisa) Rusk and Keith (Amanda) Rusk; and eighteen great-grandchildren plus two more great-grandchildren expected this coming February and May. Don is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bartsch.
At Don’s request, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
