Donald Lee Miller of Cuyahoga Falls passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 18th after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie, his brother, James, and best friend, Tom Jones. He was a 1962 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. He was a Veteran of the Navy and served during the Vietnam War.
Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy, and daughter, Dawn Marie (Doofer), sister-in-law, Nancy Miller, sister-in-law, Jeannie (Bill) Long, nephew Scott (Becka) Miller, nieces Mary Louise (Mike) Hall and Carol Anne (Ken) Edmonds.
For many years he was involved with the Cuyahoga Falls Schools. He was a member and President for the Cuyahoga Falls Athletic Booster Club, responsible for lining the football and soccer fields, and lead the Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation Alumni Foundation. By far his favorite was that for 34 years he was the scorekeeper for the Lady Black Tigers Basketball team. His support of the Lady Basketball Team knew no bounds. These girls we like daughters to him, and he continued to follow and stay in touch with them even after they graduated. He was known for taking full-size candy bars to every game for the girls. In 2018, Don was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation & Alumni Association where it was said he was an excellent example of what being a Black Tiger for life is all about!
We want to thank Gentiva Hospice for the care, especially nurses, Jenn and Jackie, and the chaplain, Holly.
