Frank Ronald Magnani, 90, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 12, 2023 at Summa Akron City Hospital. Frank was born July 20, 1933 in Akron, Ohio, to the late Frank and Stella (Fedunik) Magnani. Frank's grandfather, Louis (Luigi) Magnani, was an Italian immigrant from the small village of Santa Maria Albiano, Italy. Frank lived his entire life in Northeast Ohio. He graduated from Hower High School in Akron. He worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 40 years as a vending machine specialist, retiring in 1996. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a mechanic from 1954-1956.
Frank was first and foremost a family man. He cherished time with everyone of his family members. Frank had no in-laws. Everyone was a son, a daughter, or a brother. He loved them all as such, and they loved him back. He was very proud of the heritage that he left.
Frank loved to fish, and liked being in the great outdoors, camping and skiing with his kids as they were growing up. Frank, with his wife and first mate Chris, could be found on his pontoon boat around the Portage Lakes with the family, many a summer day. He loved just spending time around the campfire, and the recent campfires in George and Rachelle's backyard was something he always looked forward to. He spent many yearly, week-long vacations on fishing trips to Lake Norman in North Carolina with the family, earning the nickname "Crawdaddy". He was unable to walk (a bit tipsy) on the boat dock, from boat to shore one day without falling in, so he had to "craw". Crawdaddy it was.
Frank and Chris took many bus trips to different places in the states. He loved to tinker with cars and motors and electronics over the years. He enjoyed playing computer golf, over the internet, with his three sons. He also loved music and could light up a dance floor along with Chris. He liked watching football, and was a big Notre Dame fan. Frank (and Chris) hosted an annual guy's overnighter for many, many years in the middle of summer. Steaks on the grill and beer in the fridge, a couple tips of Ancient Age, serious cornhole, euchre and a little (no, a lot) of B.S. This also included one on one trips to his Oval Office, (better known as the kitchen), where he reigned as president, doling out lessons on life. Frank was not shy with his opinions on any matter. We are all so thankful for that aspect of him. There was also a yearly, much beloved "girls only movie and food night" that he and Chris hosted. Frank was very fond of fish fries and pork chops. Frank and Chris attended the First Church of Christ in Tallmadge.
Along with his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his former wife, and mother of his children, Annette Andreff (DeShaw).
He is forever and lovingly, survived by all of us attempting to uphold his legacy, wife Chris (Miller) children, Elton (Rhonda) Magnani, Kim (Steve) Godar, Tona Bock, Tony (Karen) Magnani, and Mark (Patricia) Magnani and half-sibling Larry Andreff. Grandchildren, James, Nathan, Jenalee, Samantha, Marah, Justin, Kelli, Joseph, Jacob, Morgan and Mitchell, eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and four great-nieces. Sister, Darlene (Gordon) Richmond, nephew Gordon (Laura) Richmond, and niece Rachelle(George) Jameson.
There will be no visitation or calling hours. Cremation has taken place. All are welcome to the service on Wednesday, December 20 at 10:30 AM. It will be held at the First Church of God, 464 Northeast Avenue Tallmadge, OH 44278. There will be a Military Honors Funeral that same day at 1:45 PM(be prompt).
