Fred M Mellinger Jr

Fred M. Mellinger Jr., 63, passed away on October 6, 2026. Born in Akron on March 11, 1963, to Frederick M. Mellinger Sr. and Linda Kay Dye, Fred was a caring, compassionate, and devoted man whose greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Fred shared 51 years with the love of his life, Pamela Doughty. He treasured their time together and the memories they made. He especially loved being with his grandchildren, Mason and Maryann, who held a special place in his heart. Always a jokester, Fred brought laughter to those around him and will be remembered for his loving heart and sense of humor.

Fred was a skilled handyman with talents in many areas, including roofing and sandblasting. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and going to bingo with his mother. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and making memories with the people who meant the most to him.

Fred is survived by his beloved Pam; daughters, Ashley, Ashleigh, and Tammy Mellinger; son, Jonathan; grandchildren, Mason and Maryann; godson, Jamie Starcher; brothers, John Woodard, Rick Woodard, and Danny Woodard; aunts, Dorothy (Dick) Beaver, Pat (Bud) Dye, and Debra Conley; friends, Vicki and Bim Starcher; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Kay Dye; father, Frederick M. Mellinger Sr.; sisters, Nancy Mellinger and Mary J. Mellinger; brother, Mike Mellinger; and nieces, Marie E. Mellinger and Tawney.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10 a.m. until noon, with a service to follow. Burial with a graveside service will take place at New Matamoras Cemetery on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
