Gerald Paul Thompson

Gerald Paul Thompson, 85, passed away peacefully August 8, 2025.  He was born February 21, 1940 in Akron, the son of the late Gerald R. Thompson and Mary E. Sloop.  He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.  Gerald retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the Chemical Division, and then went on to work at the Summit County Jail and Akron Public Schools.  Gerald was unforgettable and had a stubborn flair about him.  In his free time, Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family at Piedmont Lake, where he was a member of the Akron Boat Club.  He loved to ride on the pontoon boat, and go fishing.  You could always talk him into going shopping as well.  In addition to his parents, Gerald is preceded his daughter Sherry Campbell; and sisters Sue Johnson and Betty Thompson.  He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years Linda S. Thompson; daughters Valerie (Charles) Tonkin; Troyann (Maurice) Wilkerson;  seven grandchildren; and ten grandchildren with one on the way; son-in-law Cameron Campbell; and sister Judy Gorday.  Per his wishes cremation will take place, and Gerald's family will celebrate his life at Piedmont Lake.  Arrangements entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186
