Gloria Jean Garland, age 82, of Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025. Born on September 12, 1942, in Maine to the late Dana and Leona Campbell, Gloria lived a life defined by grace, compassion, and unwavering love for her family, students, and community.
A lifelong educator, Gloria devoted many years to teaching, touching countless young lives with her gentle spirit, wisdom, and patience. Her students remembered her not just for the lessons she taught, but for the warmth and encouragement she offered each and every day.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Gloria was the heart of her family — a steady, loving presence who uplifted everyone around her. She never spoke a harsh word and carried herself with quiet strength and kindness.
To the children who grew up on Wilbur and Cole Avenue, Gloria was more than a neighbor — she was a second mother. Her door and heart were always open, and many found comfort, guidance, and love in her home.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched — through her family, her former students, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
“I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
As long as I’m living
my baby you’ll be.”
