Gloria Ireland

Gloria Ireland, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Gloria devoted her life to helping others through her work as a respected psychologist. A graduate of Kent State University, she was known for her compassion, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those she served. Her caring nature extended far beyond her profession and was reflected in her lifelong love of animals. Over the years, Gloria opened her heart and home to many beloved companions, including her dogs Molly, Vivian, Sophie, and most recently Lucy, as well as her cherished cats Stephanie, Katie, and Jack.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Theodore and Dorothy Hooker (née Lapinski) and is survived by her loving brother, Gary (Diane) Hooker. Gloria was dearly loved by her family, who will forever cherish her memory, her strength, and her vibrant spirit.

A celebration of Gloria's life will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Adams Mason Funeral Home, 791 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305.

In honor of Gloria's lifelong devotion to animals, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Summit County Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers.
