James John Moraghan, 75, went to his heavenly home on April 12, 2026, in Canton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Moraghan; mother, Mary Ann Moraghan; brothers, Fr. Vincent and Thomas Moraghan; and niece, Bridget Holzheimer.
Born on June 27, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, Jim grew up with a strong sense of curiosity that shaped both his personal and professional paths. He held many positions over the years and retired as an inspector for the city of Canton. His commitment to excellence and eye for precision made him a master craftsman in all things practical. More importantly, his heart and love for the Lord led him to invest in countless churches and Christian ministries.
God sent Jim as a forerunner for revival in the city of Canton and everything he did had that in mind. His ultimate vision was to see the Pro Football Hall of Fame full of people worshipping the Lord and he worked passionately towards that goal.
Jim was known for his upbeat attitude, generous spirit, and strong work ethic. Whether through ministry or the work of his hands, he found ways to connect with others and leave lasting impression.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Moraghan; his sister, Laura (Robert) Holzheimer; his children, Joshua (Kimberly) Moraghan, Bethany Greene, Peter (Charla) Moraghan; his children by marriage, Krista Kovach, Meagan (PJ) Sawyer and Jonathan (Sarah) Masseria; his grandchildren, Nathan (Molly) Moraghan, Brandon (Bailey) Moraghan, Megan (Chase) Brown, Brooklyn Moraghan, Maddox Greene, Micah Moraghan, Mariah Moraghan, Kyleigh Sawyer, and Penelope Masseria; and his great-grandchildren, Brooks and Turner Moraghan.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emerald House, 1844 Ira Turpin Way NE, Canton, Ohio. Fellowship will follow.
Jim’s story does not end here—it lives on through his family and continues in the lives of those he invested in, both on earth and in eternity. He will be deeply missed.
