James Richard Pido

May 16, 1962 — August 6, 2025

Garfield Heights

James “Jim” Richard Pido, Jr. was born May 16, 1962 and raised in the Garfield Hts. suburb of Cleveland, OH. Jim passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025 with his family surrounding him and holding his hands as he transitioned on. Jim passed during a difficult health struggle with diabetes, heart failure, and respiratory failure after being admitted to Akron City Hospital on June 24, 2025.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving parents, James R. Pido Sr. and Mary E. Pido (nee Sargent), along with many loved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jim is survived by his three sons, James R. Pido III (Alyssia Ocejo), Anthony R. Pido, and Giovanni Pido. Jim’s grandson, James R. Pido IV and Jim’s sister, Darlene R. Pido (Valerie), also survive. Jim’s loyal companion Cricket is now living her best life with family in TN running in the grass with all her puppy cousins. Jim’s biological mother, Donna Malek (nee Orne) also survives and was at his side when he passed. Jim also loved and considered James and Jeff Mackell, and Dylan and Maverick (Wells) Pido to be his sons as well.

Jim had many friends and never met a stranger wherever he went. Jim was the king of bad “dad jokes” and he loved to gather with family for the holidays to share stories and eat his sister’s famous Thanksgiving stuffing. Jim attended Garfield Hts. Schools and was an electrician by trade; Jim worked as an independent contractor for most of his life. Jim worked with his good friend, Terry Giguere of Lawndale Electric, and Terry gave Jim a great deal of work and help; Terry meant a great deal to Jim. Jim also helped many friends and family with electrical problems and other odd jobs, including computer repair and many home repairs and maintenance. Jim passed on his passion for computers to his eldest son Jimmy and he was so proud of the work Jimmy did in the military and of the communication business Jimmy started upon his return from service. Jim was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back, even when he had nothing. When he was a child, Jim would bring home candy he received during birthday celebrations in school and share it with his sister. Jim would take the blame for things he and his sister did as children, so his sister would not be punished. Jim’s health issues began to effect his quality of life in recent years and were ultimately what shortened his life. In honor of Jim, please take care of yourselves and consider a donation of blood to the Red Cross. Jim will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place. Jim’s family wishes everyone to know that a celebration of life is being planned and will take place at a later date. Jim’s sister will make the date, location, and time known when plans are finalized.
