James (Jim) Scott Stauffer Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday January 23, 2026. Jim was born in Youngstown Ohio on September 12, 1931 to Boyd Stauffer Sr. & Sarah Isabel (Scott) Stauffer. He is preceded in death by, his parents, and 2 brothers, Boyd (Jane) Stauffer Jr. and David (Charlene) Stauffer.
Jim is survived by Sylvia his loving wife of 68 years, his 5 children; daughter Rhonda Park, son James Jr., son Stephen (Chrissi), daughter Laura (Chris) Schley, son Adam (May), 41 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren with 2 more on the way and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim served in the Korean War while stationed at Sonderstorm Air Base in Greenland.
After returning home from active duty in 1954, Jim began attending Calvary Temple in Akron, Ohio with his mother. It was there that he met and married his beautiful bride, Sylvia Grace Smith. Jim and Sylvia were married on March 30, 1957. They continued to attend Calvary Temple, which later became The Cathedral of Tomorrow in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Jim and Sylvia raised their children to love and follow Jesus. They were great examples of what it means to love God and serve others. Together they faithfully served Jesus by serving others and volunteering at each church they attended throughout their marriage. After attending The Cathedral of tomorrow they attended Sanctuary of Praise and most recently were members of Faith Family Church in Canton, Ohio for the last 30 years.
Jim was a hard and dedicated worker. He worked for various companies in Ohio throughout his life; BF Goodrich in Akron, Ohio, Reliable Printing in Ravenna, Ohio, Western Roto Engravers in Wadsworth, Ohio and InfoCision in Green, Ohio where he retired (a second time) at age 81.
Jim's family would like to thank the nurses, staff and friends of Chapel Hill Community in Canal Fulton for their dedication, care and kindness given to him during his stay there for the last 9 months.
Jim will be dearly missed by his family & friends.
