Jewel Marie (Helsel) Copeland

Jewel Marie (Helsel) Copeland, 56, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on September 16, 2026 after a long battle with cancer.

Jewel was born on January 29, 1970, in Akron, Ohio. She was a fiery, vibrant woman who was full of life and never afraid to let her personality shine. Jewel loved to sing and her passion for music was a cornerstone of her life. She graced those around her with her beautiful voice, whether she was performing for a crowd or singing in the car with the radio up. Her talent was undeniable to anyone that knew her.

She found comfort in the simple things like a hot cup of tea. She had a spirit that was uniquely her own and a presence that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jewel was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She is survived by her father, Ronald Copeland; her siblings, Timothy Copeland, Amy Hurst (Darren), Rachelle Carreon, and Victor Carreon; her three daughters, Shelly Wigginton, Ashley Oliver, and Nichole Wright (Lamont); her grandchildren, Rebecca McDaniel, Tristan Wigginton, and Elisabeth Wigginton; and her significant other, Ryan Weaver, who stood faithfully by her side until the very end and will carry her love and memory with him.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Copeland, and her beloved grandson, Lucas Young.

Though her life was far too short, Jewel leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, music, and memories that will remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Her fiery spirit and zest for life will never be forgotten.

Every song has a final movement. Whether it fades out or crashes away, every song ends. Jewel never let that stop her from enjoying the music.
