John Michael "Mike" Richards, born on November 3, 1964, passed away on December 14, 2023. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Mike had a deep love and passion for his country, which led him to serve as a dedicated soldier in the Army. Throughout his military career, he demonstrated unwavering commitment and honor, serving his country with great pride. The impact of his service will never be forgotten.

Beyond his military life, Mike was known for his incredible sense of humor. He had a natural ability to make people laugh and bring joy to any room he entered. His quick wit and funny antics made him a beloved presence among his family and friends. He treasured and embraced these roles with tenderness support, and compassion. He cherished his family and friends, always there to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, and words of encouragement. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.

Mike's love for history was a driving force in his life. He had an insatiable curiosity for the past, always seeking to expand his knowledge and understanding of the world. Whether it was visiting historical sites engaging in intellectual discussions, or happiness in various outdoor activities. Fishing brought him a sense of peace and tranquility, as he cast his lines into the waters, hoping for a great catch. Gathering around bonfires with loved ones was a cherished pastime, where stories were shared, memories were made, and laughter echoed into the night. Mike's adventurous spirit also took him on many journeys. Traveling was a passion of his, allowing him to immerse himself in new cultures and experience different landscapes. He found inspiration in the rich history of each location, which deepened his appreciation for the world around him.

One of Mike's greatest joys in life was being a grandparent. He had a special bond with his many grandchildren, and he treasured every moment spent with them. From sharing stories about history to passing along life lessons, he nurtured their curiosity and sparked their own love for learning.

As we gather to honor and remember Mike, let us celebrate his remarkable life and the impact he made on our lives. His dedication to his country, his ability to spread laughter, his passion for history, his skill as a building painter, and his cherished roles as a father, son, brother, and friend will forever remain in our hearts.

May John Michael "Mike" Richards rest in peace, knowing that his legacy as a lifelong learner, a talented artist, and remarkable individual who- touched the lives of many will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who loved him. 

Mike is preceded in death by his daughter Ashlie Wallace and brother Tieri Richards. He is survived by his son Dusty L. Richards, and mother Micheline Richards.

Services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on January 16, 2024 at 2:15 PM.
