Stow

John “Jack” Rubins, age 90, of Stow, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was born on April 13, 1935, to John B. Rubins and Madeline (Sharpe) Rubins.

Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Robert Rubins, and his son, Greg Rubins. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Nadine (Nixon) Rubins; brother-in-law and sister Bruce and Carolyn (Rubins) Clark, daughter-in-law, Jane Rubins; sons and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jonna Rubins, and Mark Rubins; grandchildren Melissa Rubins, Adam Rubins, Matthew Rubins, Katie Rubins, and Zoey Rubins; and three great-grandchildren.

Jack graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1953 and attended Kent State University before enlisting in the United States Navy in December 1955. He proudly served his country until September 1957. On January 10, 1959, he married the love of his life, Nadine Nixon, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 67 years.

During his years as a father, Jack was actively involved in his community. He coached Little League for his three sons and generously gave his time to the Woodridge High School Booster Club. Professionally, Jack worked as a salesman for various sporting goods and retail clothing companies, specializing in golf. Over a career spanning more than 32 years, he had the opportunity to meet and play golf with some of the most notable figures in the sport.

In retirement, Jack and Nadine spent many happy years escaping the northeast Ohio winters in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. In the late 1990s, Jack and three close friends founded and promoted the Cuyahoga Falls Oktoberfest Charity Golf Tournament, an event that continues to this day.

An avid golfer well into his later years, Jack played the game he loved until the age of 85 and achieved the remarkable feat of recording six holes-in-one during his lifetime.

At Jack and Nadine’s request, no visitation or services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Cuyahoga Falls Golf Charities PO Box 303 Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44222.
