Jose' Mario Aguiar de Lira

José Mario Aguiar de Lira, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, entered the presence of Christ on July 24, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, creativity, perseverance, and love for his family.

Born on December 1, 1945, Mario spent the first half of his life in Brazil, where he built a career in cost estimation and management in the printing industry, where he also learned computer programming. His fascination with computers and technology continued throughout his life.

In 1989, José immigrated to the United States with his wife, Marlene, and their daughter, Claudia, where he became a machinist supervisor, a position he held until his retirement.

José was exceptionally intelligent and creative. Over the years, he taught himself darkroom photography, oil painting, and carpentry. He designed and built an entire custom kitchen from scratch and several pieces of furniture, all at a professional craftsman level.

After retirement, Mario and Marlene enjoyed traveling and spending time living in both Brazil and Florida. In Florida, he believed in, confessed, and was baptized as a new creation in Christ at Pompano Beach.

José is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marlene Vital Lira; daughter, Claudia Harris (Joshua); his grandchildren, Taylor Martin (Alex), Alexander Teagle, Olivia Teagle, Carter Harris, Brielle Harris, and Cole Harris; his great-grandchild, Eliana Martin; his brother, Marcos Lira; and his sisters, Aurea Aguiar de Lira, Maria-José Aguiar de Lira, and Maria Aparecida de LiraAlbertina; and too many nieces and nephews to list.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria das Mercedes Aguiar de Liraand Mario Galvan de Lira.

Mario will be remembered for his brilliant mind, his creativity, his ability to learn and build anything he put his mind to, and his love for technology, which was only surpassed by his love for his family.

Celebration of LifeA Celebration of Life honoring José will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Freshwater Community Church in Wadsworth, Ohio
