Joseph Earnest Gore was born October 23, 1942, to Clarence Hobart and Mamie Alice Gore in Lego, West Virginia.
He received his early education in the West Virginia School System, and after graduation from High School, Joe entered the United States Marine Corps. He dutifully served this country in locations from Camp Lejeune, N.C., Parris Island, S.C., to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he decided to relocate.
Upon arriving in the Akron area, he was employed by the Barberton Citizens Hospital, while attending the University of Akron. However, the call to serve was an ever-present desire. So, Joe joined the Akron Police Department in 1971 and faithfully served the citizens of the City of Akron for 35 years in various departmental positions. Joe never met a stranger and would offer assistance to those in need.
In 1968, he met the love of his life, Ms. Cherry Blaylock. They were married in August 1971 and from that union two children were born, Peter Aaron and Valeria Gore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Mr. Clarence Hobart and Mrs. Mamie Alice Gore, siblings; Mr. Clarence D. Gore (Signora), Mrs. Aldora Wahid (Abdul), Mrs. Mary L. Bitting (Clifford), and Mrs. Nancy E. Rahmon (Khalilur).
Joe is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cherry Gore; children, Mr. Peter Gore and Ms. Valeria Gore; brother, Mr. Bobby Gore (Eleanor), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
