Joseph Anthony Guy, age 63, passed away in the early morning hours of May 6, 2025. Joseph was the beloved husband and best friend of Kathleen (nee King) for over 30 years. He was the loving uncle of Joshua Guy; Tori, Ethan (wife Christina) and Julia King; Quincy and Grace King; and Lauren, Alexandra and William Voght. Also survived by brothers and sister in law Robert King (wife Linda), James King (wife Jen), Anne King-Voght and Gail Guy-McIntire (husband Marvin). Joseph was preceded in death by his parents John and Louise Guy and siblings Mary, John and James Guy. Joseph us also survived by his “kids” Sammy and Charlie who stayed with him until the end.
Part of Joseph’s legacy is the lives he touched by his music. His bass baritone voice and choral conducting skills led him to work with many choral groups in the Cleveland area. These include the Robert Page Singers, Singers Companye and the Cleveland Chamber Choir. Joseph received his Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Akron. He was director of Music Ministry at several churches including St. Basil the Great in Brecksville, OH and Fields United Methodist Church in North Ridgeville, OH where he made beautiful music and made lifelong friendships.
Joseph was the undisputed king of puns and never heard a dad joke that he didn’t like. He could be passionately political, especially about human rights. Joseph loved nature and would travel to Amish country and Niagara Falls just to see the beauty. He was a talented charcoal artist and and painter. And he was an avid NHL fan (Go Capitals!)
Joseph loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own kids. And oh how he loved his dogs, especially his best buddy Charlie. He was the best dog dad ever. As a husband he was fiercely loving, protective and made Kathleen laugh all the time. His hugs were the best. We will love and miss him more than words can say.
A celebration of Joseph’s life is being planned for a later date, and updates will be made. In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to your favorite no kill animal shelter.
