Joseph B. Parks

Akron

Joseph Bernard Parks went to sleep peacefully at the age of 88. He was born in St. Louis. MO to General and Mattie Parks. Sr. When 17 he moved to Akron and graduated from Hower High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean War. He Retired from General Tire and Rubber Company after 25 years. He later worked over a decade at Akron Summit County Public Library.

He was baptized November 15,1969, as one of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He looked forward to the promise of the resurrection. (John 5:28,29) A time when all will be made new under God's Kingdom/Heavenly Government (Matthew 6:9) where death and sickness will be no more (Revelation 21:3,4). He was known throughout Akron and loved by many. He was professional sax and flute player and enjoyed playing for many events. He enjoyed Jazz and gave musical lessons to all ages. He also enjoyed road trips in various states to see family and friends especially during the conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, he was the last man standing of four brothers; William Quinn, James Harris, General Parks and Richard Williams; five sisters Rose Oglesby, Geraldine Cross, Ruby Fann, Yvonne Hoyt, Louise Thompson, and daughter Lynda Henry.

Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife Carolyn, daughters Jacqueline Parks and Tammy Davis, son Joseph (Natalie) Parks all of NE Ohio; sisters Janith (William) Lawrence of Georgia, Chevis Pugh of California & Barbara (Terrell) Campbell of Missouri; Sisters-in-law Marsha Parks of NE Ohio & Dawn (Kenneth) Abney of Pennsylvania; Brothers-in-law Henry Morgan of Arizona, McKinley Morgan of Texas, Kerry (Angie) Morgan & Lance (Teresa)Morgan all of NE Ohio; host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Memorial service will be Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 896 Vernon Odom Blvd., Akron Ohio 44307.
