Karen Vadie Dalton (née Stefanik, formerly Gayler) was born on October 16, 1948, in Akron, Ohio, and passed away on August 8, 2025, due to medical complications following an injury from a fall.
Karen graduated from Kenmore High School in 1967 and went on to attend Stark Tech. She later married Ray Stefanik (deceased), with whom she had two children, before moving to California, where she lived for 50 years. She built a long career in property management until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Raymond (Jack) Dalton; brothers David, Denny, and Paull; and her sister, Lisa. She is survived by her children, Mickey Stefanik (Jerry) of Huntington Beach, CA, and Christine Collier (John) of Upland, CA; grandsons Cameron, Brennan, and Austin Carey; and her great-grandchildren, Evan, Jaxson, and Adalyn. She also leaves behind her brother Stephen (Sharon Fleming) of Columbia, SC, her sisters Laura and Janine of Akron, and her beloved pug, Squirt, who was always by her side.
In 2023, Karen returned to Akron and found a wonderful community at White Pond Villa, where she made many new friends. Her family wishes to give special thanks to her dear friend Celeste, who lovingly cared for Karen and faithfully walked Squirt each day, and to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Akron General for their compassion and expertise during Karen’s final days.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held.
Arrangements entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186.
