Kathleen Ann Schulmeister

Kathleen Ann Schulmeister, born on May 27, 1958, in Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at The Grace House, after bravely battling cancer for several months. She was a cherished member of her community and is remembered fondly for her warmth, kindness, and infectious spirit.

Kathleen graduated from Green High School in Greensburg, Ohio, where she began to cultivate the joys and passions that would define her life. A devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, she embraced her love for the game with enthusiasm. Kathleen was also an active member of the United Jeep Group, where she enjoyed connecting with fellow enthusiasts. In her leisure time, she found solace and creativity in crocheting, crafting beautiful pieces that were treasured by her loved ones.

On September 25, 2004, Kathleen married Frank Schulmeister, a union that brought them both joy and companionship for nearly 19 years. Kathleen was a proud member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Akron, where she found a sense of purpose and community. In her lifetime, Kathleen celebrated many accomplishments, with her greatest pride being her loving family.

She leaves behind her devoted sons, Charles Louthian, Michael Louthian, and Robert Bower, as well as her beloved daughter, Melanie Detwiler. and loving stepdaughters Tonya McIntyre and Debbie Sallmayer (Dennis).  Kathleen cherished her mother, Margaret Gabel, and her close relations with her sisters, Carol Gabel, Ruth Ellis and sister-in-law, Loretta Louthian. She is also mourned by her aunt, Ruth Bair, along with many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her father, Karl Guhl, step-father, William Bond, and brother, Jerrold O. Bond, as well as her husband, Frank Schulmeister, who awaits her in eternal rest.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Grace House for their compassionate care and support during Kathleen's final days. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date, a fitting tribute to a life deeply lived in love and commitment.
