King S. Brooks

Feb 27, 1934 — Jun 17, 2026

Akron

King Solomon Brooks went home to be with the Lord in June 17, 2026. He was born on February 27, 1934, in Georgianna, Alabama. Later, his family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, before eventually settling in Akron, Ohio. King attended Akron Public Schools and later attended welding school, where he became a skilled welder. He dedicated 40 years of service to Babcock & Wilcox, retiring after a long and respected career.

King had a passion for bowling and became a semi-professional bowler, traveling throughout the United States to compete in tournaments. He also loved fishing and enjoyed working on and repairing cars. Above all else, King loved and cherished his family. He was a devoted father, an awesome provider, loving, giving, dependable, and dedicated to his children and loved ones.

King was first married to Ednah Louise Winset, and together they had three daughters: Cheryl Brooks, Cynthia Brooks, and Crystal (Ladie) Fair. He later married Juanita Marcum, and together they welcomed their daughter, Nichole Brooks.

King was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Robert Sr. Brooks; his daughter, Cheryl Brooks; his brothers, Reoye Brooks, Price Brooks, Levander Brooks, and Robert Jr. Brooks; his sister, Lou Bertha Brooks Watkins; and his grandson, Dontae Brooks.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Cynthia Brooks, Crystal (Ladie) Fair, and Nichole Brooks; his sisters, Pauline Brooks Baskett and Earline Priscila Brooks; his beloved longtime companion and partner of 40 years, Zebetta McDowell; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and all who were blessed to know him. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to his adopted daughter, Brenda Jean Snow Johnson, for her love and support over the years.

King's love, generosity, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family will never be forgotten. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone attending the service and memorial and for the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time.
