Kyle Desmond. Sykes, age 49, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2026. He was born on May 26, 1976, in Akron, Ohio, to Marilyn Faye Rodgers and the late Michael D. Sykes “Cheese”.
With the exception of several years spent in Florida later in life, Kyle was a lifelong resident of Akron and was educated in the Akron Public School system. While living in Florida, Kyle worked in boat construction, where he took pride in building with his hands. He recently achieved a meaningful milestone, graduating from Arrow Passage Recovery on January 22nd, 2026, an accomplishment he was proud of and one that reflected his strength and determination.
Kyle maintained a lifelong affiliation with Frank Ave Worship Center in Barberton, Ohio. He was known to those who loved him as a devoted family man. Kyle’s family was his heart, his motivation, and safe place. He showed up for the people he loved in big and small ways through laughter, conversation and unwavering loyalty. Kyle never met a stranger; he had the ability to make anyone feel seen and valued. Affectionately known as “Kyley Mo”, his bright smile and infectious, one-of-a-kind laugh could light up a room regardless of the moment or mood.
A proud Cleveland Browns and Guardians fan, Kyle could often be found wearing his sports gear and cheering on his teams with pride. Whatever Kyle pursued in life, he did so with enthusiasm, and drive.
Kyle was preceded in death by his father, Michael D. Sykes “Cheese”; grandparents, Carrel and Carrie Rodgers; and grandfathers, Beecher Sykes II and Charles L. Walker.
He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his loving mother, Marilyn Rodgers, and grandmother, Edith Walker, both of Akron, OH; his daughter, Kyleisha C. Davis of Kingsland, GA; his sons, Deshon Davis of Holliday, FL, and Kyle D. Davis “ManMan” of Tarpon Springs, FL; his beloved and only granddaughter, Sayge Davis-Little of Kingsland, GA. He is also survived by his brothers, David Rodgers, Marcus Snyder, Michael Sykes Jr., and Robert “Lash” Tony, all of Akron, OH; sisters, China Honorable, Leshillia Walker, and Monee Fannin, all of Akron, OH; Special aunts, Diane Rodgers “Tee Tee” and Karen Beach both of Akron, OH; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Kyle’s presence, laughter, and love will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through the many lives he touched.
Kyle's memorial service will take place Friday February 27, 2026, 1-2 PM at Adams Mason Funeral Home 791 E. Market St. Akron, OH 44305. Cremation has taken place.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home 330-535-9186.
