Lawrence James

Lawrence “ Larry/ Pie U/Poo pie ‘’ James was born to Mattie Wheeler and the late Benjamin James in Birmingham Alabama on May 15, 1952. He was the second son born of 4 children.

He attended Barberton High School and remained a resident in that area for many years, where he worked as a general laborer.

He sold his home and moved to Akron to be closer to his mother and siblings.

He loved his mother dearly and when she fell ill he became one of her caregivers during the evening hours without hesitation or any complaints.

He enjoyed the simple things in life such as watching TV-sports, people watching, playing cards and spending time with his family.

He shared a special bond with his brother Calvin as they shared a rare brotherhood-one filled with loyalty, laughter and true friendship. They were more than brothers and best friends. He also had a special bond with his nephew Dwayne.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Benjamin James, step father Sam Wheeler and grandparents Wilkes and Elizabeth Jolly

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories; mother-Mattie Wheeler, Sisters Cynthia Scott, Barbara Ingol, Brothers:Benjamin James Jr., Calvin James, Arthur Lee( Brenda) Wheeler, nieces, nephews and friends.

Words will not wipe away your tears and hugs may not ease your pain but hold onto the memories because forever they will remain

Visitation will be held at Adams Mason Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 12, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
