Leon “Lee” Anders, 95, of Akron, passed away on August 19, 2026. He was born on May 13, 1931, to the late Paul and Helen Anders.
Early in life, Lee proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he built a long career as a truck driver and was a retired member of the Teamsters. Lee believed in working hard, keeping his word, and enjoying life along the way. He was a loyal friend, a man of his word, and someone who could always be counted on. With his great sense of humor, Lee enjoyed making those around him laugh and was never afraid to have a little fun.
Lee had many interests throughout his life. He enjoyed playing guitar, bowling, playing cards, and traveling across the country with his wife and family. Some of their fondest trips were to Alaska, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania, places they especially enjoyed visiting together. Whether on the road, spending time with family and friends, or simply sharing a good laugh, Lee knew how to make the most of life. He was also a proud member of the VFW and American Legion.
Lee was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; his parents, Paul and Helen Anders; sisters, Betty (Kelly) Phillips and Dot (Bill) Meredith; and brothers, Art (Joyce) Anders and Ray (Joan) Anders.
He is survived by his daughters, Patty (Dave) Meidlinger, Bonny (Dale) Maxey, and Marilyn (Jim) Stock; grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Casey, Erin, Travis, Elliott, and Alex; great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Clyde “Ed” Ellis; dear friends, Tom Meredith and Steve (Anna) Davis; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses who provided Lee with exceptional care.
A celebration of Lee’s life will be held at a later date.
