Mark Romanish Jr.

December 22, 1959 — June 22, 2025

Tallmadge

Mark J. Romanish Jr., 65, of Tallmadge, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 22, 1959, in Spangler, Pennsylvania, Mark moved to Tallmadge at the age of seven and would spend the rest of his life there raising his family and building friendships that would last a lifetime.

To say Mark enjoyed working with his hands would be an understatement; there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He was well known for his outside-the-box approach to problem solving. If the tool he needed didn’t exist, he’d create it. If the part he needed wasn’t available, he’d find a way to build it himself. He took joy in passing down what he knew, patiently teaching his son, stepdaughters, nieces, nephews, and anyone else who was willing to learn how to fix something the right way. The lessons he gave weren’t from books; they were the kind that built confidence, created memories, and left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to learn from him.

He spent his career as the head of maintenance at Midway Lanes, where he handled everything from bowling equipment and vehicle maintenance to building repairs and renovations. He took pride in his work, but even more in helping others; something he did constantly and without hesitation.

A lover of cars, Mark raced at Barberton Speedway in his younger years. He had a lifelong passion for classic cars, with a special place in his heart for his 1972 Pontiac LeMans. Working on his LeMans was a true labor of love, one that he never wanted to end. On more than one occasion he drove her to the end of the driveway and decided that something wasn't quite right... back into the garage they would go and the work would start over again. He spent hundreds of hours getting her exactly the way he wanted, and in recent years he finally allowed himself to enjoy his hard work. He even took her to the Pontiac Nationals, an event he spoke about with great pride.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Romanish; son, Joe Romanish (Matt); stepdaughters, Linda Lowers (Mikki), Shannon Lowers Hykes, and Danille Regan (James); stepson, Shannon Moore (Christine); and his sisters, Dorothy Romanish Bolyard and Susan Petrillo (Tony). He also leaves behind multiple grandchildren; countless nieces and nephews; more friends than anyone could count; and his beloved dogs, Ziggy and Rusty.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Romanish; father, Mark J. Romanish Sr.; and stepmother, Barbara Romanish.

A celebration of Mark’s life is being planned. The family will announce details in the near future.
