Freeport,Ohio

Mark Wesley Ward, of Freeport, Ohio, passed away on June 30, 2026. He was 68 years old, born in Barberton on March 9, 1958. Mark proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as part of the 2nd Infantry Division, Alpha Battery 6th and 37th, from 1976 to 1979. He spent his career out on the open road as a long-distance truck driver, occasionally trading the highway for the fresh air of landscaping work.

If you knew Mark, you knew he loved the freedom of the ride, often found on his Harley-Davidson soaking in the beauty of nature. He had a creative soul and loved strumming his guitar, but he was perhaps most famous for his chatter on the CB radio. If you ever heard his handle, "Late Freight," come across the airwaves, you were in for a good conversation. He was a natural navigator who took great joy in helping others find their way, and he always made sure to ask, "Which way did you come?" just to make a connection.

Mark is now reunited with his parents, Frank and Delores Ward, and his brothers, Daniel and Dennis Ward.

He leaves behind a legacy of love with his dear girlfriend, Jenny; his sisters, Sherrie (Martin) Sanchez and Patricia (Robert) Walker; and his brother, Gerald (Lisa) Ward. His spirit lives on through his children, Tony and Samantha; his beloved grandchildren, Brooke, Caleb, Alexia, Reegan, Kaylee, and Mason; his sweet great-grandchild, Alayah; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mark's life will be announced at a later date.
