Mary Kristine Mondi

Mary Kristine “Kris” Mondi, age 70, was born on December 25, 1955, and passed away on February 3, 2026, in Stow, Ohio, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Kris was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, spent much of her early life in Barnesville, Ohio, and later made her home in Stow. She was a graduate of Barnesville High School and most recently worked in the automotive industry at EchoPark, where she dedicated seven faithful years.

Kris was known for her wit and sense of humor. She brought a certain type of energy with her—one that made people feel at ease and often smile—and even during difficult times, she found ways to bring lightness to those around her. Caring for others came naturally to her, and she enjoyed cooking for the people she loved. Over the years, she was lovingly considered “Momma” by many, a role she carried with pride and heart.

Simple in nature, Kris found happiness in the comfort of home. She enjoyed spending time with her cat, watching her favorite shows, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians. Getting her nails done was something she truly enjoyed and always made a point to keep up with, even toward the end.

She is survived by her daughter, Marisa Mondi; her sister, Phyllis Kaiser; and her former husband, James Mondi.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Vanaman; her mother, Mary Hunkler Vanaman; her sister, Karen Russell, wife of Anson; and her infant son, Brandon Schumaker.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
