Matthew J. Jacobs, 67, passed away October 2, 2023 after a lengthy illness. He was born September 1, 1956 in Akron, the son of the late William and Mabel Jacobs. During his growing up years he learned to hunt with his dad, and he always enjoyed the weekly family get togethers to play cards. At a young age, he began playing neighborhood football and baseball and was later scouted by the baseball minor league teams. Matt enjoyed motorcycles and following racing. He never met a stranger, and he always was very talkative and loved to tell stories. Matt loved to travel and go to the beach with his wife Wendy and family. He always had a great fondness and wanted the best for all pets, especially his dogs. Later on as a grandfather he was very involved with his grandsons.….he never missed a football game or birthday party. For his career Matthew was employed many years at Kent Mold as a journeyman engineer.
Matt is survived by his loving wife Wendy Nickolich; son Joseph (Ashley) Nickolich; grandsons Travis and Bryson Nickolich; brother-in-law John Arbogast; as well as other family members and friends. Special thanks to First Choice Home Health, the team at Summa Hospital ICU, and Harmony Hospice for all the care provided to Matt and his family.
Visitation will be 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM Monday, October 30, 2023 at the Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 East Market Street), where funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 PM. Pastor Michael Meyers will officiate. Matthew will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Following the funeral, the family would like to invite everyone to join them for food and drinks at Calls Farm on 5215 Fishcreek Road in Stow, Ohio 44224 to celebrate Matt’s Life.
