In Loving Memory of Montrey Louise (Canada) Suddeth
Montrey Louise Suddeth, daughter of the late William and Hettie Lane, was born on January 17, 1953, in Akron, Ohio. A graduate of South High School's Class of 1971 and a former student of the University of Akron. Montrey dedicated her professional life to serving others through her work with the American Red Cross, the Summit County Board of Elections, and the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation.
At an early age, she professed her faith at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, where her powerful alto voice was a staple of the gospel choir. Montrey was a woman of strong conviction and independent spirit, known for her passions for cooking, fashion, civil rights, and education.
Montrey was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ernestine Lane; nieces Sonia Freeman, Angela Falconer, and Faith Bigby; nephews Christopher Freeman and Major Dennis; cousin Helen Smoot; and friends Evelyn Morris, Lamont Stembridge, and Milton Hamilton.
Her life will be forever cherished by her children: Kendra Vincent, Frank Board, and Ramona Hamilton; bonus daughters Zennee and Melea; grandchildren Xavier Vincent (Tiyerah) and Madison Vincent; and great-grandchildren Xeo and Xyena. She also leaves behind her brothers, William Lane (Katie) and Frank Lane (LeAnne); her sisters, Gwendolyn Hawkins (Herman) and Judy Dennis (Bertrand); godchildren Putt, Melissa, and Melvin; special Nieces Roslyn Clark, Danielle and Carla; Athens Georgia Family; Long time friends Linda Gauthier, Sharon Robinson, and Ericka James (Petty Pie); a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Service Information: Services will be held at Arlington Church of God and Christ on Thursday May 7th. Visitation 10-11am, Funeral 11:00am 539 S. Arlington Street, Akron, Ohio 44306.
