Nancy S. Harbeson
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
1939-2026
Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her passing is the result of a serious fall.
She began her life in a rural area near Branchville, South Carolina. Daughter of Joe & Vickie McAlhany. Mrs. Nancy was the 6th child of seven siblings. She is survived by her husband, S. David Harbeson Sr., three sons and their wives: David Jr. (Chanda), Joe (Katherine aka TK), and Paul (Linda); seven grandchildren, (Paul & Linda) Stephen, True Anne, Timothy and Bethany; (Joe & TK) Simon, Annie and Elijah; a great-grandchild – Amara (Simon & Courtney). In addition, Mrs. Nancy is also survived by her younger sister Beverly Berry; In-laws-Yvonne McAlhany, Margaret McAlhany, and Wendell (Deloris) Harbeson as well as some cousins and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Nancy was also a mother to several foster sons - George, Terry Ellis, Ernest, David Witner, Norman Mizell, Clarence (Pete) Gattis and Marco.
Mrs. Nancy opened her heart and home to multitudes: serving, feeding, teaching, and loving all she encountered. She worked outside the home but also served alongside her husband through the church in children and adult ministries. Mrs. Nancy taught English and citizenship classes to refugees from Laos and Vietnam. The students who remained faithful rejoiced in acquiring their American citizenship. She also volunteered alongside her husband in disaster relief events after hurricanes and 9/11 in New York City. Loving, teaching, and training the younger children was her strength, but people of all ages benefitted from her wisdom and care. The source of her amazing love and influence was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved and served since she first accepted Him as her Savior when she was a young teenager. Her life was dedicated to Jesus and we are the recipients of the blessings Christ Jesus poured into her life.
