Robert “Bob” A. Battig Jr., 79, of Medina, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2026 at the Justice T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Akron, Ohio.
A son of the late Robert A. Battig Sr. and Elsa J. (Moore) Battig, he was born on October 27, 1946 in Wadsworth, Ohio.
Bob graduated Wadsworth Highschool and served 4 years in the US Army. He worked many jobs to support his sisters and family. Bob enjoyed sharing good times and helping those in need.
Bob was a free spirit, a man who knew no stranger. Bob loved to fish on Lake Erie and Pheasent hunt. He was a father to two sons whom he passed along many life lessons.
Bob is survived by two sons, Branden (Katie) Battig and Chris (Kim) Battig; grandchildren, Elsie, Evelyn, and Zoe Battig; sisters, Denise (Raines) Battig, Debroah (Kindig) Battig. Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Shelly (Clancy) Battig.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, no formal services will be held, and cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at Richfield Fellowship Hall, 3903 Broadview Rd, Richfield, OH 44286 on April 25, 2026 from 11:30am-2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to the Brain Enrichment Initiative (BEI). Brain Enrichment Initiative | Mental, Social, & Emotional Health Program for Students.
The Brain Enrichment Initiative (BEI) is a local non-profit organization in Northeast Ohio, which recognizes the role the brain plays in the development of emotional health. A healthy brain, developed through proper nourishment and positive social experiences of friendship and collaboration, is critical to the happiness in which life is experienced.
