Rosemarie S. Pospisil

Rosemarie S. Pospisil, 70, of Hudson, OH passed away on January 25, 2026 at Heritage of Hudson while receiving care by Summa Hospice.

Born in 1955 in Cleveland to Czech émigrés Sonia Cerna and Joseph Pospisil, Rose grew up with a deep appreciation for creativity, culture, and family. She attended local schools and graduated from Chagrin Falls High School before pursuing her passion for the arts. A gifted fiber artist, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Theater with a concentration in costuming from Kent State University in 1991. During this time, while also caring for her parents, she designed costumes for several theatrical productions that were reviewed by The Plain Dealer.

Rose’s professional life reflected her wide-ranging talents and curiosity. She worked at the Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, served as costume designer for Ensemble Theater, spent ten years working in banking, and later assisted at K9Piper’s Place. She also served as tenor drummer with the Celtic Flame Pipes and Drums.

A lifelong maker, Rose was an avid knitter who designed many of her own pieces—receiving one of her afghans was considered a true gift. She enjoyed cooking, solving jigsaw puzzles, and participating in her mystery book club. She also delighted in collecting clocks and miniature couture shoes, each piece reflecting her eye for detail and whimsy.

Above all, Rose will be remembered for her generosity, her sharp sense of humor, and her unwavering commitment to caring for friends and family. She had a remarkable ability to show up for people when they needed it most, offering kindness freely and without hesitation.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Sonia Cerna and Joseph Pospisil, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She is survived by her brother Ray (Jan) Pospisil of Grand Forks, ND and her niece Kate (Jason) Merlene and great niece Clara of Kent, OH.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Summa Hospice or charity of choice.
