Sarah Jane Filomena

Sarah Jane Filomena, 43, passed on October 8, 2026, after a courageous five year battle with cancer.  Born in Ravenna, Ohio, on October 28, 1983, Sarah graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High in 2002.  She attended the University of Akron.  For a number of years, Sarah worked at Summit County Public Library where she had many friends.  Since 2024, she worked at the Summit County Jail as an office worker, seeking new endeavors in that position.

Sarah was an avid reader and was always with a book and cup of coffee in hand when outside of work.  She had a curious, active mind, learning about electrical work, car repairs, and any and all fields that crossed her path.  She was a true renaissance woman.

Sarah's passing was followed by the unexpected loss on October 10, of her brother, Galen Maughan.  Her survivors include her mother, Beverly Robb, who dearly loved her daughter, and Beverly's long time partner, Joe Maresco; her father, Joe Filomena; her brother Aaron Maughan; and sister Sarah Nees, as well as aunts Toni and Kim, uncle Matt, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special person, Ryan, and a circle of friends throughout the area.

Cremation has taken place.  A Graveside service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls on a future date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sarah's memory to any of the local animal rescue and care organizations.
