Sylvia Grace (Smith) Stauffer went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on June 26, 2026. Sylvia was born in Akron OH on Oct 7,1937 to Newell & Freda Smith. She is proceeded in the death by her parents, stepfather Earnest Gaither, sister Waldean (Smith) Armstrong, nephew Ronald Armstrong and recently her husband James. Sylvia leaves behind many family members who loved her deeply - daughters Rhonda Park and Laura (Chris) Schley - sons James Jr, Stephen (Chrissi) and Adam (May), along with 41 grandchildren (including spouses) and 17 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, plus many beloved nieces and nephews.
Sylvia committed her life to the Lord at a young age and regularly attended Calvary Temple in Akron with her parents. It was here that she met and married her husband James. Together they faithfully served Jesus throughout the years. Along with Calvary Temple they also attended and served at The Cathedral of Tomorrow, Sanctuary of Praise and Faith Family Church.
Although Sylvia’s employment throughout the years consisted of various office positions for the following businesses, Dr. E. A. Riemenschneider, Akron Christian Schools, Christian Brotherhood Health Care, InfoCision and IDMI, her highest calling, was to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then to her family. Her commitment to the Lord, her gentle spirit and kindness to all will forever be remembered. The legacy she leaves with us - Trust in the Lord with all your heart, be consistently in prayer and love others as you would want to be loved. There is no doubt in our hearts and minds that as she entered Heavens gates she heard the words, “ Well done thy good and faithful servant!” Thank you mom for always pointing us to Jesus, and remaining steadfast in your commitment to God! You will forever be in our hearts and deeply missed. We love you!
Sylvia’s children would like to invite family and friends to join them in celebrating the beautiful life of their mother. A Memorial Service and celebration of life fellowship dinner will be Monday July 20, 2026. Sylvia’s family will have her private internment at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery.
