Dr. Ted Robertson passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Ted graduated from Buchtel High School in 1955 before attending the University of Akron for his pre-medical studies. He went on to earn his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Akron City Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident.
Following his medical training, Ted proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, stationed in Oxnard, California. After his military service, he returned to Akron and dedicated more than 30 years to caring for women and their families as an obstetrician and gynecologist at Akron City Hospital. Throughout his career, he delivered countless babies and made a lasting impact on generations of families in the community. His dedication to medicine also inspired those closest to him, including his brother, W. Denny Robertson, M.D., and his son, Dr. Ted Robertson II, both of whom followed careers in medicine; Denny is a Family Practitioner and Ted is a OBGYN.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Mervin P. and Paulyne D. Robertson of Akron, Ohio, and by his first wife, Loretta Davis Robertson, RN, the loving mother of their children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathie Robertson, RN; his brother, W. Denny Robertson, M.D.; his children, Tamsin Wilson of North Canton, Ted Robertson II, M.D. of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Tara (Mike) Needham of Winter Springs, Florida; and his beloved grandchildren, Miah, Evan, and Coen Wilson of North Canton; Teddy and Savannah Robertson of Ormond Beach, Florida; and Joseph and Andrew Needham of Winter Springs, Florida.
Ted will be remembered as a kind, caring, and quiet gentleman whose compassion extended far beyond his profession. His dedication to his patients, his devotion to his family, and his humble nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Per Ted's wishes, there will be no services to be held.
