Tina Marie Krieger was born with a loud yell at 0002 on October 02, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois and passed away surrounded in love on March 07, 2026, at 1600. She was adopted by Roy Earnest and Joan Marie (Sellars) Krieger as a baby. She grew up in the greater Chicago area with her parents and one brother.
Tina fought many demons throughout her life, but through hard work, determination, and many blessings, she succeeded at AA celebrating 35 years of sobriety this year (a little earlier than June 17th, but she earned it!).
After finding sobriety, Tina found her next passion and graduated from Northern Illinois University and became an RN focusing on end-of-life, hospice care for over 25 years. She unwillingly and unhappily retired in July 2025. This came in the middle of a battle she fought harder and with more determination than any person should be asked to show. On January 27, 2025, Tina was diagnosed with Stage 3 metastatic lung cancer and given a few weeks, then a few months to live. She succeeded at radiation, chemotherapy, and brain surgery like the amazing woman she was! She may have lost the final battle, but she kicked butt along the way and went out having survived lung and metastatic brain cancer (thank you Dr. Aaron Palmer), but with bone cancer being more than she could successfully battle. Thank you, also, to Dr. John Jacob and everyone at Summa Akron City Hospital that provided a listening ear, a caring hand, or a loving heart.
Tina lived by three-time tested rules – 1. Everybody dance now – and if you read that right, you sang it and danced! 2. Shit happens, just don’t get buried in it. And 3. It is better to be crazy than normal. Tina was proceeded in death just recently by her dog Koda who joined his siblings Dakota and Nova to await her arrival at the rainbow bridge. Tina had many interests and there is no way to list them all but some – Kayaking (she never met a lake/river/creek she didn’t like), woodworking, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and reading kept her busy! She was a strong advocate for wildlife and her nickname was “Wolf02”, a story she loved to share with friends.
She will be sorely missed by the people she called friend and/or family from a variety of life experiences, school, work, AA, and the multitude of interests along her journey on earth. She formed a very long and loving friendship with Cheryl (Dan) Martin from her days in Illinois. Finally, she formed a family of choice while at Crossroads Hospice NEO.
Among the many loving caregivers and family of choice – Debra Wagner, her soul-sister (whom she forever reminded was the older sister); her mama-bear Jackie (Bill) Roby; her adopted mom Linda Wagner; her “bestest cook in the world” (and loving friend) GayLynn and her husband Dan; and Patty (I’m just the neighbor) who provided hours and hours of bedside care. Also, a shoutout to Dr. Marina for the amazing love and support shown to Tina, along with her friends and co-workers from Hospice of the Western Reserve.
We would also like to give a tremendous shoutout and thank you to the field staff of Crossroads Hospice for all the tender love, gentle care, and hours of conversation. Among these – Britt (primary nurse); Katie (primary aide); Jane, Pierce, Mike, Luke, Sarah, Alexis, Mary, Ryan, Nancy, Rhonda, Mary (yep, more than one), Cathleen, Morgan, Gabby, Makayla, Gaby, Abbie, Mya, Areol, Jess, Adriann, and Doctor K. David.
Per Tina’s wishes, Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will, per her wishes, be mixed with those of Koda, Dakota, and Nova and given to the water she so loved.
Celebration of life is currently pending. Donations in Tina’s name may be given to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, https://www.stbaldricks.org/, your local animal shelter, or to your favorite charity.
