Vonda L. Waters

Vonda Louise Waters passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born on September 21, 1935, in Caldwell, Ohio, Vonda was the only child of the late Kenneth Harper and Louise (Andrews) Harper. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvah Leon Waters.

Vonda dedicated over twenty years of service to Akron City Hospital, working in Labor and Delivery. She truly loved her work and took great pride in caring for mothers and newborns during some of life’s most precious moments. Caring for others was the thread that ran throughout her life. In addition to her nursing career, Vonda devoted herself to tending to family members, including her mother and her husband, with quiet strength and unwavering compassion.

Vonda loved the color purple, a reflection of her vibrant yet steady spirit. She was known for being direct and honest — you always knew where you stood — yet she was consistently kind and generous to anyone in need of a helping hand. Her strength was matched by her heart.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at the Village of St. Edward for their exceptional care and kindness over the years. Vonda found joy in staying active in the community, especially helping in the sundry shop and keeping the bulletin boards up to date.

Vonda will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children: Jill Dowling (Ralph), Karen Dawson, Lisa Waters, and Ken Waters (Wendy Greathouse); her grandchildren: Emily Dunay, Andrew Dowling (Ayaka), Allison Dowling, Alan Waters, Gwen Seese (Nathan), and Riley Waters; and her great-grandchildren: Jacob Dunay, Rui Dowling, Ren Dowling, and Rion Dowling.

In accordance with Vonda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
