William W. Pritchard, 95, of Green, Ohio, passed away on August 8, 2026.
He was born on March 11, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Bertha and Quaid Pritchard.
On August 27, 1955, he married Minnie C. Griffiths, and together they shared 63 years of marriage. Bill was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1949, and The University of Akron, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Early in life, Bill loved to run, sometimes running from work to home. He enjoyed hiking with his daughters and taking summer trips with his family, camping along the way so his daughters could see much of the country. He and his family also enjoyed fifty years of trips to the beach. Bill loved traveling with Minnie, playing bridge, watching the Cleveland Browns, reading, sometimes more than one book at a time, and working on jigsaw puzzles.
Bill began and ended his career with Goodyear Aerospace (Loral), where he worked in various roles for 39 years. During his time at The University of Akron, Bill was active in his fraternity, Phi Sigma Kappa, serving as both treasurer and president.
Bill was deeply committed to his community and generously gave his time to causes that were important to him. He was a devoted member and volunteer of First United Methodist Church of Akron, volunteered at the Portage Lakes Branch Library, donated more than 20 quarts of blood to the Red Cross, and served as a poll worker during numerous elections. Bill also valued education and served six years on the Board of Education for the Portage Lakes Career Center and 16 years on the Board of Education for the Manchester Local School District, including 12 years as president.
Above all, Bill found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He took great pride in raising his three daughters alongside Minnie and cherished the many years they shared together. He especially loved watching his four grandchildren grow up and being part of their lives, creating memories they will carry with them always. Bill was especially grateful to see his family grow with the addition of Kelsey, Megan, Wells, and Ruby, knowing the love, joy, and special moments they would bring to their family for years to come.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Minnie; his parents, Bertha and Quaid Pritchard; his sister, Pat Carpenter; and his son-in-law, Jeff Dutton. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Pritchard, Pamela Pritchard, and Melody Dutton; his grandchildren, Graham Wyman (Kelsey), Ethan Dutton (Megan), Madeline Dutton, and William Wyman; and his great-grandchildren, Wells Wyman and Ruby Dutton.
Bill’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers at The Gables of Green, Dr. Michael Wells, The Care Team (Traditions), especially Jen and Rita, the caregivers with Cornerstone Caregiving, and everyone at GreenView Senior Assisted Living. We are deeply grateful for the wonderful, compassionate care, and kindness they showed Bill and our family.
On Saturday, August 22, at Adams Mason Funeral Home, 791 E Market St, Akron, Ohio 44305, the family will receive friends from 10:00-11:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made in Bill's honor to: Akron-Summit County Public Library (60 South High Street, Akron, Ohio 44326) or The University of Akron Foundation-Women in Engineering Program (c/o Megan Hopper, Office of Development, Akron, OH 44325-2603.)
