William L. (Bill) Rutan passed away on Friday September 1 at age 92. He was born on April 11, 1931 in Akron Ohio and graduated from East High School in 1949.
Bill was always helping others, including his mother and sister after his father passed away when he was 12.
After hiring in at Goodyear Tire at 19, Bill was drafted into the Army and served in combat on the front lines in Korea with the 3rd Division 7th Infantry heavy weapons machine gun section. On returning from Korea, Bill married Janet Woolcock. They were married for 56 years until Jan's death in 2012.
Together they raised 3 children, Pamela, David and John in Tallmadge. Bill and Jan later moved to N Canton.
Bill retired from Goodyear with 43 years service. He enjoyed watching his 6 grandsons play sports, gardening, golfing and having breakfast at Farmer Boys restaurant with his fellow retirees.
Bill was an honest, hardworking, giving man who always had a great sense of humor and a smile on his face.
He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Preceded in death by wife Janet, daughter Pamela Rutan Brewer, brother in law Tom Allio and niece Janet Allio.
Bill is survived by sons and daughters in law David/Kelly Rutan and John/Wendy Rutan.
Son in law Boyd Brewer.
Grandsons Jonathan (Pamula) Brewer, Scott (Jess), John (Amanda), Michael (Courtney), Matthew (Jenny) and Christian Rutan, along with 10 great grand children.
Sister Carol Allio, nephews Tom, Bill, Mark Allio and niece Diane Gingo.
Per Bill's wishes there will be no services, cremation has taken place.
